neither here. nor there.

the musings of a twenty-something A-T-Lien in the nation's capital.

hello!

the name’s john, but most of my friends back home call me “old man asante.” where’s back home, you ask? and are you really THAT old?

woah. hold your horses. one thing at a time.

ok, so the nickname — i have the uncanny ability to fall asleep anywhere AND everywhere, especially if a movie is on. i call it “cinematic narcolepsy.”

as for “home,” well, i current live in d.c. (yes, d.c. — not maryland or virginia), by way of atlanta, by way of new jersey. when asked, i usually just say the ATL…

and then there’s that thing called a job… i’m a producer on talk of the nation, npr’s live, call-in talk show. my days consist of pitching ideas, writing scripts, booking guests, research, editing audio, and screening calls. it’s a trip, to say the least.

but i typically leave the daily grind off this blog…in my spare time, i tend to obsess over plaid and gingham clothing, collect t-shirts with hidden pop culture references, enjoy live music and stand-up comedy, play team sports (currently soccer and softball), attempt to keep up with my sports teams of choice (atlanta braves, dallas mavericks), talk about my ghanaian heritage, tell stories, listen for even better ones, laugh, make people laugh, and stay way too busy for my own good.

oh, and one last note… i run a few other tumblr blogs, mainly based on music, if you’re interested…

mixtape madness: a collection of audiophiles who trade music on a fairly-regular basis (mixtape-madness.tumblr.com). if you’d like to join, hit me up at   wemixalot@gmail.com

record a day: an attempt to listen to (and review) 365 albums in 365 days. w00t. (record365.tumblr.com)
